Detail in fabric - Jason Mraz

Calm down
Deep breaths
And get yourself dressed instead
Of running around
And pulling all your threads and
Breaking yourself up

If it's a broken part, replace it
But, if it's a broken arm then brace it
If it's a broken heart then face it

And hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way
Hold your own
Know your own name
And go your own way

And everything will be fine
Everything will be fine
mmmhmm

Hang on
Help is on the way
Stay strong
I'm doing everything

ps emily i found a takuya kimura lookalike! :P

o mee o myy. has ili turned domesticated?

filling up time at home by trying out new recipes courtesy of tastespotting.com. why do they always look so much better in pictures haha. Thats supposed to be banana cake and button cookies. the taste test however is another matter. I can't decide which is more successful (read: tastes least weird) in comparison to yesterdays attempt at zucchini pancakes (which is essentially jemput2) and fried eggplant.

final verdict: ili really is not good at cooking haha

Listened to Los 40 Principales online at the same time so feels partly like I'm back in Spain. Except I'm sweating like a pig indoors. and I found out Madonna's final concert in europe is in Valencia. wahlao! why is vlc so happening when im not ard??? missed/missing out on Juanes' concert, Julieta Venergas' visit to UPV, (i cant believe i missed out on villas visit to upv too!), the F1 grand prix and now Madonna. boo.

hmm 1 european peculiarity i think i've picked up is plugging my chargers into the sockets without switching them on. there are no switches on european sockets! therefore leaving me with my laptop w/o battery life even tho I'm wired up..

nothing beats the back to kampung feel

so after 6mths abroad, how does it feel like to come back home? well, today my parents brought me out for dinner in the heartlands and we walked about all the shops that feels so old-school! sorry.. i think i might be a little deprived considering i dont have that many heartlandish shops near my place. but through all the hawker centres, where the wet market is closed at night.. all the pri school snacks and even to the durian store where my dad decided to try his luck at the 1 for $1 stash (which i must say resulted in a better yield than the 4 for 5dollars bunch). now i understand why some tourists want to visit the heartlands haha. and i guess in a way, I lived in the heartlandish area of spain too. so much so i can honestly report that mushrooms in the grocery store in spain cost alot less than at NTUC. was a bit aghast at the prices at NTUC today. a new realization hit me today.... i will never have the same opportunity to live in spain anymore. well unless i buy a holiday home or work there. sigh. its just not the same. boo.

While trying to fill up my time with something useful to do, I unpacked the family tree I have almost completed since the last hari raya and stuck them on my wall & completed it with all the emails i have. I must say, its pretty amazing that my aunts/uncles/grandrelatives /greatgrandrelatives still remember each other and invite each other to their kids weddings. no wonder it was such a headache for my cousin when he got married. and no wonder malays have their weddings in such a fashion where soooo many pple can slip in n out at any time ie u can cater to lots of pple in 1 setting. my dad says its impersonal but hey if my family line is already 17pages long, its a bit hard to hold it any other way. not say im gonna be getting married (sooner or later)

in any case, been a little revitalised by the fact that sya's relatives apparently have these extended family gatherings too and have succeeded in an inter family bowling competition. how cool is that! I want one of those. But don't know how welcoming my family will be to that idea. sigh. a new resolution with every year.

returning-home depression kicks in

approximately 12hrs after landing. i woke up at 230am hungry (despite a really heavy seafood dinner earlier) and thought.. damn.. i miss having a window in my room. and then thinking, crap i have so much junk to clear in my room.. n then hmm i dont think i bought enough things for my family after all they've done for me. n then thought.. crap no more adventures..

and then i come online n pple start talking abt school and the future and it all starts crumbling. sigh. goaway reality. :(
somehow, the thought of waiting in an airport seems rather appealing rather than face reality right now.

im gonna sit here and sulk for a little while longer.

Update: yay all it took for a mini chat session with tobi to lift my spirits. havent seen him since he left valencia in february and miss him to bits. the reason why i now understand the appeal of german boys hahaha

I watched my first west-end musica with Christina yesterday as part of our London-birthday festivities! it was WICKEDly good! i loved the new spin on things and how it was so thrillifying & scandalicious :) the sets & lighting were absolutely amazing! the scene changes so smooth & ga-linda so wonderfully annoying haha.. and i heard one song, that I thought I recognised courtesy of jayne & her laptop haha.

Hands touch, eyes meet,
sudden silence, sudden heat
hearts leap in a giddy world.
He could be that boy,
but I'm not that girl
Don't dream too far, don't lose sight of who you are,
don't remember that rush of joy.
He could be that boy,
I'm not that girl
Every so often we long to steal,
to the land of what might have been,
but that doesn't soften the ache we feel
when reality sets back in
Blythe smile, lithe limb
she who's winsome,
she wins him,
gold hair with a gentle curl,
that's the girl he chose
and heaven knows,
I'm not that girl
don't wish, don't start
wishing only wounds the heart,
I wasn't born for the rose and the pearl,
there's a girl I know,
he loves her so,
I'm not that girl.

The first post as a 22yrold

So am I supposed to sound wiser? nahh.. haha
It's Christina's birthday today & she's knocked out cold.. Probably still running on Sg time funny though that her bday coincides with gay pride day in London. Witnessed quite a buzz in town today! Too bad all the cute ones will never be available to us girls.. lol. There is something perfectly enjoyable about London & I really can't put my finger on it. It can't be the language factor since it doesnt seem as sexy when everythings in English hehe. Puisan did mention that it is easy to feel right at home in London because its so cosmopolitan. There's always sth to do.. it's just a matter of acclimatizing to the strength of the currency! Ooh! Christina has a flatmate from Venezuela who intends to be a football writer and is now interning at one of the mags. Cue: Billion watt smile. That lucky girl is in for some good times here man! Have I mentioned how much i missss spain!? Somehow i feel more homesick wrt spain than i ever did to sg. odd. Made a pinky promise with Fede too to meet up in the future & make sure he can speak in fluent English and me in fluent Spanish! ahh.. 22.. here's the beginning of the end.. whatever will become of mee?? sth exciting i should hope..
